Like most newbie web page designers, here is a list of, essentially, my favorites copied and pasted from internet explorer. maybe they will give you some insight as to what kind of person I am. and maybe you care!.....yeah, and maybe I'm a Chinese fighter pilot.
Musashi Musashi's web site is a site devoted to Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, such as Ultima Online and Asheron's Call. Of particular interest are his "chronicles" where he records the adventures that his character has in the game.
Also of note is his forum / message board. Sometimes it deals with topics relevant to gaming, but mostly it's just a bunch of drunk
bikers, bartenders, and would-be Goths telling everyone else how stupid they are. Quite entertaining really.
If I post on that board (which is rare) it will be under the name "Ozymandias" How I neglected to put this site on my favorite links page for so long is beyond me. This is an excellent game review site.
Also has excellent use of humor and sarcasm. An excellent site. Contains insightful social commentary as
well as hilarious reviews of b-rated sci-ri/horror movies and computer games. This is a website that provides links to the most bizzare, unusual, and sometimes cruel webpages on the internet.
To my shame the Winnipeg Free Press website made it on this list when it did a special report on the 911 murders. This page is devoted to hunting down and classifying different variations on the "mullet" hairdo.
(also known as "hockey hair"). you know, short on top and really long in the back? anyway, this site is pretty funny in parts, so check it out! I used to think that this guy was just another twisted fan of the site "www.fatchicksinpartyhats.com", but it turns out
that he is also really into comic books. No, I mean he has REALLY spent a lot of time researching and
analyzing all the comics
that we used to read as kids. The amount of research he must have put into his page devoted to the hostess fruit pie adds (remember them?
from the back page of comic books?) is almost worthy of a thesis.
Wolvi Wolvi (AKA Jace Moon) is a fellow grad student at the U of S. His slacking abilities are way above par. He had his web page long before I ever got one. And it was mostly due to the fact that he had one that I decided that I should make one. So check it out and sign his guestbook.
He likes Wolverines of all varieties. This is Karyn's (AKA Wolvi's Girl) web page. It continues in the same tradition as "Wolvi's Turf" in that it is mostly geared around the "Magic: The Gathering" game, which we all play as a way to relieve stress rather than as a serious hobby.
It's amazing how much time one can waste when their supposed to be doing something else. Jen is a new grad student at the U of S. Jen was also on the Bellow Forks 2001 crew. Unlike me, she made
it through the summer without incurring permanent injuries.
Kim Weinbender is yet another grad student in archaeology at the U of S. And, in a dramatic break
with tradition, Kim's Web page actually has something in the way of content! Kim describes her excavations at the Petite Ville site in Saskatchewan...somewhere (hey! I don't know, it's not MY thesis!)
She also has some decent archaeology links for those of you that are into that sort of thing Kevin's webpage. Kevin is also a grad student in Archaeology at the U of S. While his page is still
in it's infancy, he has a good collection of "the Tick" .wav files. Some of them are pretty hilarious. Also the links section has some good stuff
I suspect that more will be added to this page in the not too distant future, so keep an eye on this site. Kurt Penner is a man I met while "working" for Convergys Corperation (motto: Resistance is Futile!). We did tech support for AT&T Canada Internet Service. I quit that job some months ago to go do my master's degree in Saskatoon. Kurt Still works there and as a result is a bitter, bitter man. He can be usually be found ranting about the "lusers" he deals with at work on ICQ chat and IRC. Jared Armstrong is a man I went to high school (Springfield Collegiate, Oakbank, Manitoba).
Despite being a year younger than I am, Jared is married and is successfully raising a family in
Thompson Manitoba. although he may be moving to a small town outside of Calgary soon.
His site contains some good pics of his kids....for those of you who like looking at that kind of thing.
The Barbarian Keep One of the older and most well developed barbarian site on the web. Has some good stuff on
Robert E. Howard, is somewhat biased. Dedicated to the movie rather than the books. He has the complete soundtrack on MP3's.
Also has an indepth review of the movie. Also dedicated to the movie. Has a lot of good Conan .Wav files for your computer Computer Gaming Sites Probably the best site for the game Baldur's Gate. Way better than the official one. the offical Icewind dale page (yes, this is how I waste my time!) The best gaming information site there is. Although...It has recently
changed its format and it is begining to become just like all the other gaming sites. Neverwinter Nights the official Neverwinter Nights page. RPG Planet's Neverwinter Nights Page. An unoffical Database of all the details that have been released on Neverwinter Nights. Computer Stuff hmmmm...maybe I should read this one day. An excellent step by step tutorial for writing HTML. This is an excellent website to get all kinds of neet little programs for just about anything.
In particular, I recommend the "freeware" section. The official page for getting help with windows related problems. Pretty much every possible problem
you can come up with has already been documented at this site. It is highly technical though. This is one of the Saskatchewan Tucows sites. it is simmilar to "webattack" but has less freeware.
all and all, not a bad site. If you're thinking of upgrading...go here first. This site reviews all the new hardware. Gets a bit technical at times. I question it's usefulness as the new hardware is invariably
tested on machines that are ridiculously state of the art, and which no mere working class person/grad student
could ever hope to own. the name says it all! Positively the best place to go to get desktop images.
Useful for getting around programs that want you to pay to register them.
All sorts of information and files for making perfectly legal backup disks of your favorite game.
This site distributes a whole slough of Gnutella based file sharing programs. Very good.
Webpages of Computer Stores
This is a shady computer joint In Winnipeg. It also has the lowest prices in town. Always. The staff are competent
enough, but you have to be wary of what you buy. Some of their stock has brandnames that no one has ever heard of before.
This is a shady computer joint In Saskatoon. it is eerily similar to the one in Winnipeg, and I strongly suspect that they are both
owned by the same parent company ( even their web pages are similar). If anything this place is even more shady than Computer Avenue.
They really like Daytec monitors and their prices are comparable to that those of computer avenue, but tend to be just a little more expensive.
Search engines:my favs
One of the better meta-search engines. One of the better search engines. I've found that it tends to return more relevant results. The U of S library search engine. Pretty usefull for researching from home and for seeing if your books are overdue yet. If you need to get a place in Regina (god help you!), this is the place to go. It is the
best/only online housing registry for the city of Regina (trust me, I have looked). This is the housing registry for Saskatoon. It has a lot more listings and is better
organized than the Regina registry. It is really quite good. Possibly the best laid out online newspaper I've seen. Has a good Local news section and Classifieds.
my favorite newspaper (maybe becasue I am from Winnipeg,eh? ) Saskatoon's local newspaper. This website uses frames. I hate frames. Not a bad newspaper I suppose...if you like farming.
The rivalry between Saskatoon and Regina is so intense that it no Regina Newspaper is allowed to be sold within
Saskatoon city limits....or so it would seem. Regina's local Newspaper. Actually, once you get used to all the ads, this isn't a bad website.
Too bad the same cannot be said about the actual newspaper. Misc. Face it, it's inevitible.
The official CFL webpage. Up to date game scores.
An online Dictionary.
